Description
The GBV-100-385-1+1-FM is a Class II surge protective device (SPD) intended for lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It protects both the L-N and N-PE paths and provides a status indicator plus a remote-signalling changeover contact.
Product Overview
The SPD is classified as Class II and is designed for a nominal operating voltage Un of 220V~. The maximum continuous operating voltage Uc is 385V~ for the L-N path and 255V~ for the N-PE path. Nominal discharge current In is 50 kA, and maximum discharge current Imax is 100 kA.
Voltage protection level Up at In (8/20 µs) is 2.8 kV for L-N and 2.0 kV for N-PE. Response time tA is 25 ns for L-N and 100 ns for N-PE.
Key Features

Applications
The GBV-100-385-1+1-FM is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It is suitable for installation in AC power distribution systems where L-N and N-PE surge protection is required.
Installation and Use
The SPD can be connected using direct parallel wiring or V-shaped wiring. For better protection with direct parallel connection, wiring should be as short as possible, with total length controlled within 0.5 m. Connecting conductors should be 16-35 mm² multi-strand copper conductors.
A suitable air circuit breaker or fuse must be connected in series ahead of the SPD; the circuit breaker should have a C trip characteristic. The power supply must be disconnected during installation; live operation is strictly prohibited, and connecting conductors must meet the requirements.
When the SPD is operating normally, the status indicator window is white, the alarm dry contact NC-COM is conducting, and the alarm dry contact NO-COM is open. When the SPD fails, the status indicator turns red, the alarm dry contact NC-COM opens, and the alarm dry contact NO-COM conducts.
The SPD requires no special maintenance; only periodic checks are needed to confirm the module is not loose and the status indication is normal. The SPD should be replaced promptly if the status indicator turns red or the alarm dry contact changes to the open state.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the status indicator window show?
White indicates normal operation; red indicates the SPD has failed and should be replaced.
How are the remote-signalling contacts configured?
The changeover contact provides NC-COM-NO terminals. NC-COM is normally closed and NO-COM is normally open during normal operation; the states reverse when the SPD fails.
What conductor sizes are supported?
Main terminals accept conductors up to 35 mm²; installation guidance specifies 16-35 mm² multi-strand copper conductors. Remote-signalling terminals accept conductors up to 1.5 mm².
