Description

The GBV-100-385-3+1-FM is a Class II surge protective device (SPD) designed for lightning overvoltage protection of three-phase AC power supplies. It is a 3+1 configuration device rated for a nominal operating voltage Un of 380V~, with a maximum continuous operating voltage Uc of 420V~ for L-N and 255V~ for N-PE.

Product Overview

The device limits transient overvoltages on three-phase AC power circuits. It provides a nominal discharge current In of 50kA and a maximum discharge current Imax of 100kA. Voltage protection levels are 2.4kV for L-N and 1.3kV for N-PE, both measured at In with an 8/20µs waveform. Response times are 25ns for L-N and 100ns for N-PE.

A status indicator window shows white during normal operation and red when the device has failed. An NC-COM changeover contact provides remote signaling of the operating state.

Applications

The GBV-100-385-3+1-FM is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of three-phase AC power supplies. It is suitable for installation in three-phase AC distribution systems where transient overvoltage protection and remote status monitoring are required.

Installation and Use

The device supports direct parallel wiring and V-shaped wiring. For better protection performance with direct parallel wiring, keep the connection conductors as short as possible, with a total length within 0.5m.

Use 16-35mm² multi-strand copper conductors for the main connections. A suitable circuit breaker or fuse must be connected in series ahead of the SPD; the circuit breaker should have a C trip characteristic.

Disconnect the power supply before installation. Do not operate while energized. All connecting conductors must meet the specified requirements.

During normal operation, the status indicator window is white and the NC-COM alarm dry contact is closed. When the SPD has failed, the status indicator turns red and the NC-COM alarm dry contact opens.

The SPD requires no special maintenance. Periodically check that the modules are not loose and that the status indication is normal. Replace the SPD promptly if either of the following occurs: the status indicator turns red, or the alarm dry contact changes to the open state.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the status indicator show?

The indicator window is white during normal operation and turns red when the SPD has failed.

How does the remote signaling contact behave?

The NC-COM changeover contact is closed during normal operation and opens when the SPD has failed.

What conductor size is required?

Main connections use 16-35mm² multi-strand copper conductors. The remote signaling contact terminals accept conductors up to 1.5mm².

What is the maximum connection length for parallel wiring?

When using direct parallel wiring, keep the total conductor length within 0.5m.
