Description

The GBV-120-385-1+1 FM is a Class II surge protective device intended for lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It combines an L-N protection path and an N-PE protection path in one unit, with a nominal discharge current In of 60 kA and a maximum discharge current Imax of 120 kA.

Product Overview

The device is designed for single-phase AC power distribution. The L-N path has a maximum continuous AC operating voltage Uc of 385 V~, and the N-PE path has a maximum continuous AC operating voltage Uc of 255 V~. The nominal operating voltage Un is 220 V~. Voltage protection levels are 3.0 kV for L-N and 2.0 kV for N-PE, both measured at In with an 8/20 µs waveform.

Status is shown by an indicator window: white indicates normal operation and red indicates failure. A changeover remote signalling contact provides NC-COM-NO outputs for remote status monitoring.

Applications

The GBV-120-385-1+1 FM is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It is suitable for installation in AC power distribution equipment where a 35 mm DIN rail is available and where the L-N and N-PE protection paths are required.

Installation and Use

The device can be connected in a conventional direct parallel configuration. For better protection performance, wiring should be as short as possible, with the total length controlled within 0.5 m. Connecting conductors should be 10-35 mm² multi-core copper conductors.

A suitable circuit breaker or fuse must be connected in series ahead of the SPD. The circuit breaker should use a C trip characteristic. The power supply must be disconnected during installation; live operation is strictly prohibited, and connecting conductors must meet the specified requirements.

During normal operation, the B-level indicator window should be white, the C-level indicator window should be green, the alarm dry contact NC-COM should be conducting, and the alarm dry contact NO-COM should be open. When the SPD fails, the status indication turns red, the alarm dry contact NC-COM becomes open, and the alarm dry contact NO-COM becomes conducting.

The SPD requires no special maintenance; only periodic checks are needed to confirm that the module is not loose and that the status indication is normal. The SPD should be replaced promptly if the status indication turns red or if the alarm dry contact becomes open.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the status indicator window show?

White indicates normal operation and red indicates failure. During normal operation the B-level window is white and the C-level window is green.

How is the remote signalling contact configured?

It is a changeover contact with NC-COM-NO terminals. NC-COM is normally closed and NO-COM is normally open. When the SPD fails, NC-COM becomes open and NO-COM becomes conducting.

What conductor sizes are supported?

Main connecting conductors should be 10-35 mm² multi-core copper conductors, and the remote signalling contact terminals accept conductors up to 1.5 mm².

What is the maximum discharge current?

The nominal discharge current In is 60 kA and the maximum discharge current Imax is 120 kA.
