Description
The GCV-60/385/1+1 FM is a Class II surge protective device intended for lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It combines an L-N protection path and an N-PE protection path in one unit, with a nominal discharge current In of 30 kA and a maximum discharge current Imax of 60 kA.
Product Overview
The device is rated for a nominal operating voltage Un of 220 VAC. The maximum continuous AC operating voltage Uc is 385 VAC for the L-N path and 255 VAC for the N-PE path. Voltage protection levels are 2.0 kV for L-N and 1.5 kV for N-PE, both measured at In with an 8/20 µs waveform. Response times are 25 ns for L-N and 100 ns for N-PE.
Operating state is shown by a status indicator that is green when normal and red when the device has failed. A changeover remote-signalling contact provides NC-COM-NO output for remote monitoring.

Applications
The GCV-60/385/1+1 FM is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It is suitable for installation in AC power distribution equipment where a 35 mm DIN rail is available and where the L-N and N-PE protection paths are required.
Installation and Use
The device can be connected using the conventional direct parallel wiring method or the V-shaped wiring method. For better protection performance with direct parallel wiring, keep the wiring as short as possible, with a total length controlled within 0.5 m.
Connecting conductors should be multi-core copper conductors of 10-25 mm². A suitable circuit breaker or fuse must be connected in series ahead of the SPD; the circuit breaker should use a C trip characteristic.
Power must be disconnected before installation. Live operation is strictly prohibited, and connecting conductors must meet the specified requirements.
When the SPD is operating normally, the status indicator window is green, the alarm dry contact NC-COM is conducting, and the alarm dry contact NO-COM is open. When the SPD has failed, the status indicator turns red, the alarm dry contact NC-COM is open, and the alarm dry contact NO-COM is conducting.
The SPD requires no special maintenance; only periodic checks are needed to confirm that the module is not loose and that the status indication is normal. The SPD should be replaced promptly if the status indicator turns red or if the alarm dry contact changes to the open state.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the status indicator show?
Green indicates normal operation; red indicates that the device has failed and should be replaced.
How are the remote-signalling contacts configured?
The unit provides a changeover contact set: NC-COM-NO. NC-COM is normally closed and NO-COM is normally open. When the SPD fails, NC-COM opens and NO-COM closes.
What conductor size is required for the main terminals?
Multi-core copper conductors of 10-25 mm² should be used, and the terminal connection capacity is ≤25 mm².
What is the maximum torque for the terminals?
The maximum torque is 3.2 Nm to 3.7 Nm.
