Description
The GCV-40-385-1+1 is a Class II surge protective device (SPD) designed for lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It protects both the L-N and N-PE paths and is intended for installation on a 35mm DIN rail.
Product Overview
The GCV-40-385-1+1 is a single-phase AC power surge protective device rated for Class II protection. Its nominal operating voltage Un is 220V~, with a maximum continuous AC operating voltage Uc of 385V~ across L-N and 255V~ across N-PE. The device carries a nominal discharge current In of 20kA and a maximum discharge current Imax of 40kA.
Voltage protection levels are 1.8kV for the L-N path and 1.0kV for the N-PE path, both measured at In under an 8/20µs waveform. Response times are 25ns for L-N and 100ns for N-PE. A status window shows green during normal operation and red when the device has failed.

Applications
The GCV-40-385-1+1 is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It is suitable for installation at distribution points where single-phase AC equipment requires surge protection on the L-N and N-PE paths.
Installation and Use
The device can be connected in the conventional direct parallel arrangement shown in the wiring diagram. For better protection performance with direct parallel connection, wiring should be kept as short as possible, with total length controlled within 0.5m.
Connection conductors should be multi-core copper conductors of 10-25mm². A suitable circuit breaker or fuse must be connected in series ahead of the GCV-40-385-1+1; the circuit breaker should use a C trip characteristic.
Power must be disconnected before installation. Live operation is strictly prohibited, and connecting conductors must meet the specified requirements.
During normal operation, the status indicator window should be green. When the device has failed, the status indicator turns red. The device requires no special maintenance; only periodic checks are needed to confirm the module is not loose and the status indication is normal.
The device should be replaced promptly if the status indicator turns red, which indicates the surge protective device has failed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the status indicator show?
The status window is green during normal operation and turns red when the device has failed.
What conductor size is required?
Use multi-core copper conductors of 10-25mm². The device accepts conductors up to 25mm².
How should the device be connected?
It can be connected in direct parallel arrangement. Keep the wiring as short as possible, with total length within 0.5m, and install a suitable circuit breaker or fuse with C trip characteristic ahead of the device.
What is the maximum torque for the terminals?
The maximum torque is 3.2Nm to 3.7Nm.
