Description
The GBV-120-385-3+1 FM is a Class II surge protective device designed for lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It combines a 3+1 pole configuration with a nominal discharge current of 60kA and a maximum discharge current of 120kA, and it mounts on a standard 35mm DIN rail.
Product Overview
The GBV-120-385-3+1 FM is an AC power surge protective device intended for Class II lightning overvoltage protection in single-phase AC power systems. It has a nominal operating voltage Un of 220V~ and a maximum continuous operating voltage Uc of 385V~. The device uses a 3+1 configuration and provides separate voltage protection levels for the L-N and N-PE paths.
The housing is made of PBT with a UL94-V0 flame-retardant rating and an IP20 enclosure protection rating. A status indicator window shows white during normal operation and red when the device has failed. A remote signaling changeover contact is included for monitoring.

Applications
The GBV-120-385-3+1 FM is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It is suitable for installation in AC power distribution systems where surge protection is required at the equipment or distribution level.
Installation and Use
The device can be connected using conventional direct parallel wiring or V-shaped wiring. For better protection performance with direct parallel wiring, the wiring should be as short as possible, with a total length controlled within 0.5m.
Connecting conductors should be 16-35mm² multi-core copper conductors. A suitable air circuit breaker or fuse should be connected in series at the front end of the SPD, and the air circuit breaker should have a C trip characteristic.
Power must be disconnected during installation; live operation is strictly prohibited. Connecting conductors must meet the specified requirements.
During normal operation, the status indicator window should be white and the alarm dry contact NC-COM should be in the conducting state. When the SPD fails, the status indicator turns red and the alarm dry contact NC-COM becomes an open circuit.
The SPD requires no special maintenance; regular checks should be made to confirm that the module is not loose and that the status indication is normal.
The SPD can be judged as failed and should be replaced promptly if either of the following occurs: the status indicator turns red, or the alarm dry contact becomes an open circuit.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the status indicator show during normal operation?
During normal operation, the status indicator window is white. When the SPD fails, the indicator turns red.
How is the remote signaling contact configured?
The remote signaling contact is a changeover contact with NC-COM-NO terminals. NC-COM is normally closed and NO-COM is normally open. During normal operation, NC-COM is conducting; when the SPD fails, NC-COM becomes an open circuit.
What conductor size is required for the main connections?
Connecting conductors should be 16-35mm² multi-core copper conductors. The conductor connection capacity of the SPD is ≤35mm².
What is the maximum wiring length for direct parallel connection?
When using direct parallel wiring, the wiring should be as short as possible, with a total length controlled within 0.5m.
