Description

The GCV-40-275-2 is a 2-pole AC power surge protective device in the GCV-40 series. It is designed for second-level (Class C) lightning protection and surge protection of load equipment in power systems. The device limits transient overvoltages on the protected circuit and provides a local status indication through a green/red window.

Product Overview

The GCV-40 series is used for second-level (Class C) lightning protection and surge protection of load equipment in power systems. The GCV-40-275-2 variant is the 2-pole configuration with a maximum continuous operating voltage Uc of 275V. It is intended for parallel connection to the power line and is suitable for installation in LPZ1 zones or directly inside distribution cabinets (switch boxes).

Applications

The GCV-40-275-2 is used for second-level (Class C) lightning protection and surge protection of load equipment in power systems. It can be installed in LPZ1 zones or directly in distribution cabinets (switch boxes).

Installation and Use

  • Before installation, inspect the surge protective device. Do not install it if any defect is present.
  • Use the device only within the conditions specified in the technical table. Exceeding the given upper limits may damage the surge protective device or the protected equipment.
  • Installation must follow the relevant standards and specifications for the protector. The device must be installed by qualified personnel with relevant certification in front of the electronic equipment to be protected.
  • The GCV-40 series can be installed in LPZ1 zones or directly in distribution cabinets (switch boxes).
  • The device can be fixed on a 35mm electrical DIN rail.
  • Connect the surge protective device in parallel to the power line. “L/+” connects to the power phase line or positive line; “N/-” connects to the power neutral line or negative line. The copper conductor cross-section at both ends of the surge protective device is 10-35mm².
  • For a surge protective device installed on a circuit, an overcurrent protection device such as an air switch or fuse must be installed at its front end.
  • Connect the surge protective device to ground using the shortest possible line. Grounding is by terminal connection; the ground line must be connected to the lightning protection ground line.
  • The protected line should maintain sufficient safety distance from the incoming line and ground line to avoid secondary induction on the line.
  • Under conditions not exceeding the requirements, installation does not require long-term maintenance; only routine system maintenance is needed. If the green indicator window turns red during use, the surge protective device is damaged and must be repaired or replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the status window indicate?

Green indicates normal operation; red indicates that the device has failed and needs repair or replacement.

How is the GCV-40-275-2 connected?

It is connected in parallel to the power line. “L/+” connects to the phase or positive line, and “N/-” connects to the neutral or negative line. The ground terminal must be connected to the lightning protection ground line.

What conductor size is used for connection?

The connecting copper conductors at both ends of the device use a stranded cross-section of 10-35mm².

What backup fuse is specified?

The specified backup fuse is 32Agl/gG.
