Description

The GBV-80-385-3+1-FM-27 is a Type II (Class II) surge protective device (SPD) designed for lightning overvoltage protection of three-phase AC power systems. It is intended for installation at the second stage (Class B) of a power distribution system to protect downstream load equipment from surge events.

Product Overview

The GBV-80-385-3+1-FM-27 is a 3+1 configuration AC power SPD. It provides protection between line and neutral (L-N) conductors and between neutral and protective earth (N-PE). The device uses a 35mm DIN rail mounting system and includes a status indicator window that shows white during normal operation and red when the SPD has failed. A remote signaling changeover contact (NC-COM) is provided for remote status monitoring.

Applications

The GBV-80-385-3+1-FM-27 is used for lightning overvoltage protection of three-phase AC power systems. It is suitable for installation at the second stage (Class B) of a power distribution system to protect load equipment from surge events. Typical installation locations include distribution cabinets and switch boxes.

Installation and Use

The SPD can be installed in LPZ0B zones or directly inside distribution cabinets (switch boxes). It mounts on a 35mm electrical DIN rail.

The device is connected in parallel to the power line. The L/+ terminal connects to the phase conductor or positive line, and the N/- terminal connects to the neutral conductor or negative line. The PE terminal must be connected to the lightning protection earth. The SPD should be connected using the shortest possible conductor length; when using direct parallel connection, the total length should be controlled within 0.5m.

Connecting conductors should be multi-strand copper conductors of 16-35mm². The SPD must be preceded by a suitable air circuit breaker or fuse. For the air circuit breaker, use C trip characteristic. A backup fuse of 63Agl/gG is specified.

Power must be disconnected during installation. Live operation is strictly prohibited. Connecting conductors must meet the requirements.

During normal operation, the status indicator window is white and the alarm dry contact NC-COM is in the conducting state. When the SPD fails, the status indicator turns red and the NC-COM contact becomes open.

The SPD requires no special maintenance; only regular checks of module tightness and status indication are needed. If the status indicator turns red or the alarm dry contact becomes open, the SPD has failed and should be replaced promptly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the status indicator window show?

The status indicator window shows white during normal operation and red when the SPD has failed. When the indicator turns red, the NC-COM remote signaling contact changes from conducting to open.

What conductor size is required for connection?

Connecting conductors should be multi-strand copper conductors of 16-35mm². The conductor connection capacity is ≤35mm², and the remote signaling contact terminal capacity is ≤1.5mm².

What is the maximum torque for terminal connections?

The maximum torque is 3.5Nm~4.5Nm.

What backup protection is required upstream?

A suitable air circuit breaker or fuse must be installed upstream of the SPD. For the air circuit breaker, use C trip characteristic. A backup fuse of 63Agl/gG is specified.
