Description

The GUD-110 is a GU series signal twisted-pair surge protective device for surge protection of analog and digital signal communication lines. It is the 110V variant of the GU series, with a nominal operating voltage Un of 110V and a maximum continuous operating voltage Uc of 170V. It is installed in series on the protected line, directly ahead of the equipment or system being protected.

Product Overview

The GU series covers nominal operating voltages of 5V, 12V, 24V, 48V and 110V. The GUD-110 is the 110V model, with a voltage protection level Up of ≤500V. Across the series, the nominal discharge current In is 5kA, the maximum discharge current Imax is 10kA, the response time tA is 1ns, and the rated load current IL is 500mA. The device is housed in a 90mm × 62mm × 18mm body with a UL94-V0 flame rating and an IP20 enclosure rating.

Applications

The GU series signal twisted-pair surge protective device is intended for surge protection of analog and digital signal communication lines. The GUD-110 variant is used where the signal line operates at a nominal voltage of 110V.

Installation and Use

Install the device directly ahead of the equipment or system being protected, as close to that equipment or system as possible. The device can be connected in series as shown in the wiring diagram. For better protection performance, keep the grounding conductor as short as possible, with a total length controlled within 0.5m.

Use 1–2.5mm² multi-strand copper conductors for the connection wiring. The “IN” terminal is the incoming line end and the “OUT” terminal connects to the protected equipment or system. The two line sections must be routed separately and must not be bundled together, to prevent secondary induction.

When installed within the specified conditions, the device does not require long-term maintenance beyond routine system maintenance. If a signal transmission problem occurs and normal transmission resumes after the surge protective device is replaced, the device has been damaged and needs repair or replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
