Description

The GCV-60-385-3+1-FM is a Class II surge protective device (SPD) designed for lightning overvoltage protection of three-phase AC power supplies. It combines L-N and N-PE protection paths in one unit, with a nominal discharge current In of 30 kA and a maximum discharge current Imax of 60 kA.

Product Overview

The SPD is classified as Class II and is intended for overvoltage protection on three-phase AC power systems. It has a nominal operating voltage Un of 220 VAC, a maximum continuous operating voltage Uc of 385 VAC for the L-N path, and a maximum continuous operating voltage Uc of 255 VAC for the N-PE path. Voltage protection levels are 2.0 kV for L-N and 1.5 kV for N-PE, both measured at In with an 8/20 µs waveform.

Applications

The GCV-60-385-3+1-FM is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of three-phase AC power supplies. It is suitable for installation in AC power distribution systems where L-N and N-PE surge protection is required.

Installation and Use

The SPD can be connected in the conventional direct parallel wiring mode or in a V-shaped wiring mode. For better protection performance with direct parallel wiring, keep the wiring as short as possible, with a total length within 0.5 m. Use 10-25 mm² multi-core copper conductors for the connection.

A suitable circuit breaker or fuse must be connected upstream of the SPD. The circuit breaker should have a C trip characteristic. The power supply must be disconnected during installation; live operation is strictly prohibited, and the connecting conductors must meet the specified requirements.

When the SPD is operating normally, the status indication window is green, the alarm dry contact NC-COM is conducting, and the alarm dry contact NO-COM is open. When the SPD has failed, the status indication turns red, the alarm dry contact NC-COM becomes open, and the alarm dry contact NO-COM becomes conducting.

The SPD requires no special maintenance. Periodically check whether the module is loose and whether the status indication is normal. The SPD is considered failed and should be replaced promptly if either of the following occurs: the status indication turns red, or the alarm dry contact becomes open.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the status indication window show?

Green indicates normal operation, and red indicates that the SPD has failed.

How are the remote signaling contacts configured?

The SPD uses a changeover contact set NC-COM-NO. NC-COM is normally closed and NO-COM is normally open. When the SPD fails, NC-COM becomes open and NO-COM becomes conducting.

What conductor size is required for the main connections?

Use 10-25 mm² multi-core copper conductors. The terminal connection capacity is ≤25 mm², and the maximum torque is 3.2 Nm to 3.7 Nm.

What upstream protection is required?

A suitable circuit breaker or fuse must be connected upstream of the SPD, and the circuit breaker should have a C trip characteristic.
