Description
The GBV-80-385-1+1 FM is a Class II surge protective device (SPD) intended for lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It limits surge voltages between L/N and PE, and reports its operating state through a status indicator window and a remote-signalling contact.
Product Overview
The GBV-80-385-1+1 FM is a single-phase AC power surge protective device classified as Class II. Its nominal operating voltage Un is 220VAC, and its maximum continuous AC operating voltage Uc for L/N-PE is 385VAC. The device is mounted on a 35mm DIN rail and uses a status indicator window to show whether it is functioning: white indicates normal operation, red indicates failure.

Applications
The GBV-80-385-1+1 FM is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It is suitable for installation in AC power distribution systems where surge protection between L/N and PE is required, and where a remote signalling contact is needed to report the SPD status.
Installation and Use
The device can be connected using the conventional direct parallel wiring method or the V-shaped wiring method. For better protection performance with direct parallel wiring, the wiring should be as short as possible, with the total length controlled within 0.5m.
Connecting conductors should be 16-35mm² multi-core copper conductors. A suitable circuit breaker or fuse should be connected in series ahead of the SPD; the circuit breaker should have a C trip characteristic.
The power supply must be disconnected during installation. Live operation is strictly prohibited, and the connecting conductors must meet the requirements.
When the SPD is operating normally, its status indicator window should be white and the alarm dry contact NC-COM should be in the conducting state. When the SPD fails, the status indicator turns red and the alarm dry contact NC-COM changes to the open state.
The SPD requires no special maintenance; it is sufficient to regularly check whether the module is loose and whether the status indication is normal.
The SPD can be judged as failed and should be replaced promptly if either of the following occurs: the status indicator turns red, or the alarm dry contact changes to the open state.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the status indicator window show?
White indicates normal operation, and red indicates that the SPD has failed.
How does the remote-signalling contact behave?
The changeover contact is NC-COM normally closed. It is conducting when the SPD is normal and open when the SPD has failed.
What conductor size and tightening torque are specified?
Connecting conductors should be 16-35mm² multi-core copper conductors, and the maximum torque is 3.5Nm~4.5Nm.
What should be installed ahead of the SPD?
A suitable circuit breaker or fuse with a C trip characteristic should be connected in series ahead of the SPD.
