Description
The GDV-20-385-3+1 is a Class II surge protective device (SPD) designed for lightning overvoltage protection of three-phase AC power supplies. It is configured as a 3+1 device, providing L-N protection paths and an N-PE protection path, with a nominal discharge current In of 10 kA and a maximum discharge current Imax of 20 kA.
Product Overview
The GDV-20-385-3+1 is intended for Class II lightning overvoltage protection on three-phase AC power systems. Its nominal operating voltage Un is 220V~. The maximum continuous AC operating voltage Uc is 385V~ for the L-N path and 255V~ for the N-PE path. Voltage protection levels are ≤1.2 kV for L-N and ≤0.8 kV for N-PE, both measured at In with an 8/20 µs waveform.

Applications
The GDV-20-385-3+1 is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of three-phase AC power supplies. It is suitable for installation in AC power distribution systems where a 3+1 configuration is required, with L-N and N-PE protection paths.
Installation and Use
- The device can be connected in the conventional direct parallel wiring shown in the wiring diagram. For better protection, direct parallel wiring should be as short as possible, with total length controlled within 0.5 m.
- Connecting conductors should be multi-core copper conductors of 6 mm² or larger.
- A suitable air circuit breaker or fuse should be connected in series at the front end of the device. The air circuit breaker should use C trip characteristics.
- Power must be disconnected during installation. Live operation is strictly prohibited. Connecting conductors must meet the requirements.
- During normal operation, the status indicator should be green.
- The device requires no special maintenance; only periodic checks are needed to confirm the module is not loose and the status indication is normal.
- If the status indication turns red, the device can be judged as failed and should be replaced promptly.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the status indicator mean?
Green indicates normal operation. Red indicates that the device has failed and should be replaced promptly.
What conductor size is recommended for connection?
Multi-core copper conductors of 6 mm² or larger should be used.
What is the maximum total length for direct parallel wiring?
When using direct parallel wiring, the total length should be controlled within 0.5 m to achieve better protection.
What type of front-end protection is required?
A suitable air circuit breaker or fuse should be connected in series at the front end. The air circuit breaker should use C trip characteristics.
