Description

The G1V DC40/75 FM is a Class II DC surge protection module designed for lightning overvoltage protection of DC power supplies. It limits transient overvoltages on the DC supply and provides a remote signalling contact for status monitoring.

Product Overview

The G1V DC40/75 FM DC surge protection module is intended for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of DC power. It is a hot-swappable module that mounts in a rack frame, with a degradation indicator that shows green under normal operation and red when the module has degraded. A normally closed (NC-COM) signalling contact reports module status to external monitoring equipment.

Key Features

  • Class II DC surge protection for DC power supplies
  • Maximum continuous operating voltage Uc: 75 Vdc
  • Nominal discharge current In: 20 kA; maximum discharge current Imax: 40 kA
  • Voltage protection level Up of 0.7 kV (48 V–RTN) and 1.0 kV (RTN–PE) at In under the 8/20 µs waveform
  • Response time tA: 25 ns + 100 ns
  • Hot-swappable installation
  • Degradation indicator: green = normal, red = degraded
  • NC-COM normally closed remote signalling contact
  • Housing material flame-retardant to UL94-V0
  • Operating temperature range -40 °C to +80 °C, relative humidity ≤95%

Applications

The G1V DC40/75 FM is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of DC power supplies. It is installed in a rack frame as a hot-swappable module and provides a remote signalling contact for status monitoring.

Installation and Use

The module is installed by insertion into a rack frame. When the surge protection module is operating normally, the NC-COM alarm contact is conductive (closed). When the module has failed, the NC-COM alarm contact is open. The degradation indicator shows green during normal operation and red when the module has degraded.

Insertion depth is 23–25 mm for the main busbar and 11–12 mm for the signalling connection. Insertion and extraction force is ≤80 N and ≤75 N respectively, and the circuit breaker is rated for 200 insertion and extraction cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the NC-COM signalling contact indicate?

The NC-COM contact is normally closed (conductive) when the module is operating normally. It opens when the module has failed, allowing external monitoring equipment to detect the change in state.

How is module degradation indicated?

A green indicator shows normal operation and a red indicator shows that the module has degraded.

What are the voltage protection levels of the G1V DC40/75 FM?

At the nominal discharge current In under the 8/20 µs waveform, Up is 0.7 kV for the 48 V–RTN path and 1.0 kV for the RTN–PE path.
