Applications

The GBV-120-385-3+1 FM is used for Class II lightning overvoltage protection of single-phase AC power supplies. It is suitable for installation in AC power distribution systems where surge protection is required at the equipment or distribution level.

Installation and Use

The device can be connected using conventional direct parallel wiring or V-shaped wiring. For better protection with direct parallel wiring, the connection conductors should be as short as possible, with a total length controlled within 0.5m. Connection conductors should be 16-35mm² multi-core copper conductors.

A suitable circuit breaker or fuse should be connected in series ahead of the SPD. The circuit breaker should have a C trip characteristic. The power supply must be disconnected during installation; live operation is strictly prohibited. The connection conductors must meet the specified requirements.

During normal operation, the status indicator window should be white and the alarm dry contact NC-COM should be in the conducting state. When the SPD fails, the status indicator turns red and the alarm dry contact NC-COM becomes an open circuit.

The SPD requires no special maintenance. Regular checks should be made to confirm that the module is not loose and that the status indication is normal. The SPD should be replaced promptly if either of the following occurs: the status indicator turns red, or the alarm dry contact becomes an open circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the status indicator show?

The status indicator window is white during normal operation and turns red when the SPD has failed.

How is the remote signaling contact configured?

The remote signaling contact is a changeover contact with NC-COM-NO terminals. NC-COM is normally closed and NO-COM is normally open. The contact is rated for 250V/0.5A AC and 125V/0.2A DC.

What conductor size is required?

Connection conductors should be 16-35mm² multi-core copper conductors. The terminal conductor connection capacity is ≤35mm², and the remote signaling contact terminal capacity is ≤1.5mm².

When should the SPD be replaced?

The SPD should be replaced when the status indicator turns red or when the alarm dry contact becomes an open circuit.
